System users, prospective clients, and partners gathered in Orlando from October 3-5 for the Origami Risk User Conference. Like previous Origami user conferences, this year’s featured collaborative, hands-on learning opportunities, client-led presentations, and 1:1 sessions with members of the Origami service team. In this post (approximately 4-minute reading time), we provide a high-level overview of our most recent conference.

From October 3rd - 5th, more than 500 system users, prospective clients, and vendor partners gathered in Orlando for the Elevate 2023 Origami Risk User Conference. As with previous Origami user conferences, this year’s featured collaborative learning opportunities ranging from “boot camps” — immersive, introductory forums for those newer to the system — to hands-on sessions on how to set up administrative workflows, forms, dashboards, reports, and more. Additionally, attendees were able to choose from over 25 general sessions tailored specifically for different users (e.g., risk management professionals, claims managers, safety professionals, underwriters, etc.) and uses of Origami Risk .

A Focus on Optimization

Of the many themes that emerged from the hands-on and general sessions at this year’s conference, “optimization” was perhaps the most evident. Attendees, regardless of their roles or their organization’s place in the risk and insurance ecosystem, were able to interact with Origami team members and their peers to learn more about how to do more with less — whether due to ongoing talent shortages or budget limitations — and also get the most value out of Origami Risk.

  • Optimization is not just about doing more with less. It's also about doing the right things better.

  • Optimization is a continuous process. There’s always room for improvement.

  • Optimization requires quality data. You need to know what's working and what's not in order to make informed decisions about how to improve.

  • Optimization is a team effort. Everyone in the organization needs to be involved in order to achieve the desired results.

Attendees also learned that, generally speaking, applying the theme of optimization to risk management, insurance, safety, and compliance programs requires the following:

  • Identify your priorities. What are the most important risks to your organization? Focus your optimization efforts on those risks.

  • Measure your performance. Track key metrics to identify areas where improvement is needed.

  • Set realistic goals. Don't try to do too much too soon. Focus on making small, incremental improvements over time.

  • Use data to inform your decisions. Analyze your data to identify trends and patterns. Use this information to develop and implement targeted improvement initiatives.

  • Communicate and collaborate. Get everyone in the organization involved in the optimization process. Share your goals, progress, and results.

A Glimpse at What’s Coming in 2024… and Beyond

In keeping with the theme of “optimization” and getting the most out of Origami Risk, Vice President of Product, Jaime Henry, gave user conference attendees a sneak peek at some of the exciting new features and enhancements we’ve been working on for 2024 and beyond.

Expanded documentation and training offerings

We’ve listened to feedback from our clients and are expanding our self-service product documentation and updating our UI/UX to make it even easier to learn and use Origami Risk.

Origami’s new Help Center

Our new Help Center features both “how to” guides and access to documentation release notes. Tested by a group of clients over the course of recent months, the Help Center is now available to all clients as part of our most recent release (October 14th). The Help Center initial release features more than 400 articles covering approximately ⅓ of the system’s functionality, including system administration functionality. We’ll be releasing more articles on a monthly basis throughout 2024.

The new Origami Learning Center

The Origami Learning Center, which will be made available in 2024, will offer certification programs for Origami Risk users, starting with system administrators. The Learning Center will be integrated into and accessible from Origami Risk.

Improvements to the look and feel of Origami Risk

As of the October 14th release, clients can now toggle to get a feel for our UI enhancements. These initial changes are based on client feedback and prioritize where changes are most needed. We’ve updated the colors and fonts to make them easier to read and make screens more easily navigable. We’ve also made changes to the navigation bar layout and button styling. These small changes will have a big impact on user experience, especially for those who work in the system on a daily basis.

A new mobile app experience

We’ve seen our clients do some incredible things with the Origami Mobile Forms application since its release in 2016. Based on feedback from clients, we’ve also been working to make something useful even better, just like we did with the new UI enhancements. Our new mobile app, Origami Mobile, brings all the functionality you’d expect from the existing Mobile Forms app, plus the following:

  • enhanced login security

  • distinct menus for different types of forms

  • option for grouping forms

  • better display of images, corrective actions, and comments

  • search, filter, and favorite improvements

  • improved flagging of submission errors

New and upcoming features and enhancements will make Origami Risk even more powerful and user-friendly, helping users optimize processes and get the most out of their organization’s technology investment.

The Origami Risk User Conference: Collaboration, Hands-on Learning, and Peer-to-Peer Solution Sharing

Collaboration, hands-on learning, and peer-to-peer sharing of solutions are central to the Origami Risk User Conference. This is no accident. Origami is committed to working with clients throughout the implementation process, providing hands-on training to help clients optimize their risk management, safety, compliance, policy administration, and claims administration programs through use of Origami Risk, better understand the "why" as well as the "how" of the system, and provide feedback that drives future innovation.
